Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist - Surgery
The CRNA is responsible for the patient before, during and after a surgical/medical procedure; administers anesthetics to render patients insensible to pain during surgical and other medical procedures. Administers general anesthetics to render patients unconscious or insensible to pain and emotional stress during surgical procedures and also other medical procedures in special care units. Determines, sets up and prepare necessary drugs, supplies and equipment for the administration of anesthetics. Studies patient records to determine probable effects of anesthetic on patient. Prepares patients for anesthesia to include explanation of procedures, attention to comfort and overall wellbeing. Maintains documentation of each anesthetic administered to ensure compliance with surgical standard.

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing and from a school of nurse anesthesia approved by the SC Accrediting agency and the Council on Accreditation of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA); Must possess current SC nursing license and certification by the AANA as a Certified Nurse Anesthetist.
