Discover Wellness Health Fair Draws 270 Attendees from Six-County Region

HAMPTON, S.C. – Hampton Regional Medical Center’s Discover Wellness Health Fair welcomed approximately 270 attendees on October 14 at Open Arms Fellowship in Hampton, bringing together residents from Hampton, Jasper, Colleton, Allendale, Bamberg, and Barnwell counties for a day focused on health, wellness, prevention, and community resources. The event was free and open to the public and featured health screenings, educational resources, exhibitors, giveaways, lunch, and produce distribution.

HRMC attributes the success of the event to the partnership with Lowcountry Health Care System, Beaufort Jasper Hampton Comprehensive Health Services, Lowcountry Council of Governments, Lower Savannah Council of Governments, Healthy Me Healthy SC, and Open Arms Fellowship to host this event. By combining resources the event provided 350 lunches to attendees and distributed 175 fresh produce boxes through Huspah FoodShare, helping connect local families and seniors with nutritious food options.

“Our goal was to make healthcare information, preventive screenings, and community resources accessible to everyone,” said Michelle Strickland, Director of Marketing for Hampton Regional Medical Center. “The turnout from across the region demonstrates the need for opportunities that bring healthcare providers, community organizations, and residents together in one place.”

Attendees received access to a variety of free health and wellness services, including blood pressure screenings, hearing screenings, balance assessments, memory testing, HIV testing, dental health information, nutrition education, flu vaccinations, and Medicare enrollment assistance, as well as information on active living and preventive healthcare. The event also featured numerous exhibitors and community resource organizations dedicated to improving health outcomes throughout the Lowcountry and surrounding rural communities.

The Discover Wellness Health Fair is part of Hampton Regional Medical Center’s ongoing commitment to improving community health through education, prevention, early detection, and access to services for residents throughout the region.
