Pacemaker Implantation and Analysis

A pacemaker implantation involves the insertion of a small electronic device in the chest area (just below the collarbone) to assist with functioning of the heart. It may improve the quality of life considerably for someone who suffers from a condition that causes the heart to beat abnormally; such a condition may be bradycardia, or a slow heart rate. Composed of a pulse generator and one or more pacing leads, the pacemaker emits electrical impulses to the heart to prevent it from beating too slow or irregularly. It is important to inform the Cardiologist of any concerns regarding malfunctioning of the pacemaker. Other related procedures involving analysis of the heart include an electrocardiogram, Holter monitor, and an echocardiography.
